About Jennifer

I came of age professionally during the 90s tech boom. I don’t fit neatly into one box or the other, so for all practical purposes, I am an integrated marketing and communications consultant who helps tech companies transform their brand. I do that by writing and creating strategic multi-disciplinary content that helps companies raise their profile and influence their market.

With more than two decades of expertise, I have helped companies tell their stories to the world. Clients have included healthcare companies like Roche Diagnostics and tech companies like Pivotal, Neura, Bango Marketplace, Talentful and The Leadership Network. I also work with marketing/PR agencies like Edelman London and Column Five Media in New York as well as tech law firms and financial companies such as Defiance ETFS and Withers tech in London.

At the same time, I’m a working journalist as a tech contributor at Forbes covering innovation and the intersection of science and technology with health, industry, environment, culture, and agriculture. My subject matter expertise includes machine learning/AI, mixed reality including AR & VR, blockchain, venture, cleantech and biotech.

My first book, Love, Lust, Longing and Truth was published in December 2017.

I started my career in politics, in the press office of Senator Sam Nunn in Washington DC and graduated to the Department of Energy as a media spokesperson at the Savannah River Site run by Westinghouse, where I was responsible for media and community relations for the site’s nuclear facility and new glassification plant. I was a liaison between Washington DC and the site’s internal media team.

I moved into corporate communications at the Atlanta Market Center with several hybrid roles as a content creator for the in-house publication for the market center and publicity and public relations for market events which brought in more than 22,000 people from around the world each quarter.

I went on to work at Harvard’s Judge Baker Children’s Center as the Assistant Director of Fundraising and Marketing to PR manager at Brodeur Worldwide on the IBM team splitting my time between Boston and Armonk, NY. I moved into a VP position at the telco boutique Seattle PR firm, JLM Partners where I headed up all European client activity including trade shows, events, and content.

In 2000, I founded Spilled Ink (Ink Communications), one of the first virtual PR and content agencies. Eighty percent of the firm’s clients were acquired by major tech brands including Google, Cisco, Vodafone, and Apple. The firm was acquired in 2014.

I have interviewed leading tech CEOs, scientists, astronauts and personalities including Scott Kelly and Leland Melvin, Astronauts; Niklas Zennström, Co-founder, Skype; Colin Angle, CEO, iRobot; Jane Goodall, conservationist; Kevin Costner, actor and director; Stephen Petranek, journalist and author, How we will live on Mars; Kate Swanborg, SVP Dreamworks Animation; Marcie Jastrow, SVP Immersive Media, Technicolor; Annie Griffiths, National Geographic photographer, and Chitra Dorai, IBM Watson. She has access to the A-list in science and sci-fi films and has interviewed actors, directors and producers on films such as 20th Century Fox's film 'Hidden Figures' and 'Atlita: Battle Angel' and National Geographic Channel's 'Genius', Series 2 of 'MARS' and the documentary, ‘Jane’.

I’m the producer of Unseen, a multimedia art installation by NY artist, Chantal Calato which debuts in summer 2020, and the founder of the short-lived, but lively podcast, Culture Junkies.

After living in Europe for the past nine years, I mostly live in Brooklyn with my beagle Henry and two very existential cats.
