Jennifer Kite-Powell is a speculative poet and flash fiction writer. She has an insistent human, female voice. She writes about the visceral, mundane and emotional experiences that punctuate our lives. Jennifer was born in San Antonio, Texas, raised in Georgia and lived for a decade in Europe before settling back in the US in Dallas, Texas by way of Brooklyn.

Her first book, Love, Lust, Longing and Truth was published in 2017. Her debut work of poetry is a candid and raw expression of triumphs and setbacks we all experience in love, lust, longing and truth. Her second book, Deluge in a paper cup is 15 story poems in 27 pages that touch on the vulnerability and folly of life.

IT ALL STARTED WHEN…

I took a journey to the desert island known as Sal Island in the Cabo Verde islands. Floating about 2,894 kilometers off the coast of Portugal, this former Portuguese colony in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean was an unwitting paradise to my soul. Sal’s contribution to colonialism was salt.

Today, the salt mines are just ghosts from another time filled with tourists who want to get off the beaten path.
